What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is available from 3.00 pm. Please check-out before 10.30 am.

Are the prices per room or person?
All our rates are per room per night. Special interest breaks are priced at per person, please check the rate description for more details.

Is Nira Caledonia a historical building?
Nira Caledonia was once home to Scottish advocate, literary critic, and author John Wilson of Ellera (the writer most frequently identified with the pseudonym Christopher North of Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine).
Due to the historical importance of the building, you won't find modern conveniences such as a Lift or Air Conditioning that can put in danger the delicate structure.

Is breakfast included in the price?
Most of our rates include Full Scottish Breakfast and Continental Buffet. Please check the rate description for more details.

What time is breakfast and dinner served?
Breakfast is served 7.00am - 10.30am (Monday - Friday) and 7.30am - 11.00am (Saturday - Sunday). Dinner is served 5.00pm - 10.00pm every day.

Do you have non-smoking rooms?
In common with all luxury hotels in Edinburgh, all our rooms are non-smoking.

How many floors are in the hotel and do you have a lift (elevator)?
Nira Caledonia is made up of two three-story townhouse buildings located at 6 and 10. Each building has a Garden floor (lower ground floor), Street floor (upper ground floor), First floor, Second floor, and Third floor (top floor - rooftop). Due to the historical status of our building, we cannot install a lift. However, our team is always available to assist with luggage.

Which languages are spoken at the property?
English, French, Polish, Italian.

Do the rooms have a terrace/courtyard?
Our hotel provides only four rooms on the garden floor (lower ground floor) in the top category rooms (Junior Suite, Townhouse Grand) that open onto a private garden. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee or pre-assign these specific rooms. However, if you let us know your preference, we will try our best to accommodate you with the most suitable alternative. Please note that the allocation of rooms will only be made one day before your arrival, and the management reserves the right to refuse the allocation due to upcoming business or require a supplement for a secure assignment.

Are there TVs with international channels in the rooms?
Our hotel provides guests with Freeview TV service and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the entire property.

Is there a telephone in the room?
Yes, each room has a direct-dial telephone.

Do you have Internet access in the hotel?
Yes, we have complimentary wireless Internet in all guest bedrooms and public areas.

Is there air conditioning in the rooms?
No, there’s no air conditioning. The historic status of our building prevents us from installing an air conditioning system, but the average temperatures in Edinburgh rarely exceed the average highs of 66°F (19°C); therefore, it is never very hot.

Is parking available?
We have no dedicated guest parking, but metered parking is available directly outside the hotel (free at weekends, £3.10 per hour Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm).

Which is the nearest airport?
The nearest airport is Edinburgh Airport (8 miles / 12km).

Do you have a pick-up or shuttle service from and to the airport?
We can arrange chauffeur transfers from the airport at £50. Transfer to the airport is at £45.

Which is the nearest railway station?
Edinburgh Waverley Station is approx. 1 mile from the hotel.

Are pets allowed at the property?
Pets are not permitted.
