Old Town, New Town, Stockbridge and beyond
Whether you're visiting for the legendary Edinburgh Festival, to watch the Tattoo, or to shop until you drop, Nira Caledonia has everything you need for a cultural city break.
Our Neighbourhood
Just a short walk from New Town, we’re lucky to be located in a beautifully vibrant area of Edinburgh, full of elegant terraced houses, thrift stores, and delicious delis. Stockbridge has a village-feel, which is elevated by our weekly farmers’ market held every weekend offering jewellery, crafts, and food. And just around the corner is the Water of Leith, a river snaking through the city - the perfect place for a morning stroll to the docks.
New Town
This elegant area of the city is full of open squares, classical architecture, gardens and secluded lanes. Here you’ll find rows of chic wine and cocktail bars, boutique shops, atmospheric fine dining restaurants, and famous art galleries. Wandering around this area of Edinburgh, you’ll find the original character of the Georgian era with its cobbled streets, sandstone block facades, and Grecian pillars.
Old Town
The bustling Old Town is filled with traditional pubs, cosy cafes, and small museums. Full of centuries-old buildings and quirky narrow alleys, the area is home to The Royal Mile (a steep street lined with eateries and souvenir shops), Edinburgh Castle, and the Scottish Parliament. Each summer, thousands of artists take to hundreds of stages across Old Town for the world-renowned Fringe Festival.
